Saffron is a gem of a neighbourhood restaurant in Richmond upon Thames, Surrey offering Persian cuisine. Fans talk about the authenticity of the food served with gracious style and there's also praise for the friendly, helpful staff and the delightful modern ambience of the place.

The kitchen delves into the traditions of old Persia, offering a solid contingent of straightforward kebabs with – of course - saffron rice, alongside slow-cooked stews of various descriptions (lamb with okra, for example).

Set lunches are particularly good value and there's a reasonably priced wine list to back things up.
