Charles Dickens was a regular visitor to Satis House when it was a private residence, and the curious name actually pops up in his book Great Expectations. These days, the place is a privately run hotel & restaurant set in three acres of parkland and grounds just off the A12 between Saxmundham and Lowestoft.
New owners are making some impressive improvements to the historic interior, blending its original eighteenth-century features with up-to-the-minute modern comforts.
