An ideal destination for culture vultures visiting the Barbican (look for the pre- and post-performance deals), Searcy's Restaurant & Bar has been given a facelift, and it now wows old-stagers and first-timers with its stunning new design. Furnished with dark wood and creams, it boasts oversized lampshades above grey semi-circular banquettes, with window tables offering great views of the courtyard and the City.
Modern British cooking is top of the bill and the kitchen shows off its patriotic credentials with the likes of red mullet and gurnard broth, braised rabbit with summer vegetables and broad bean compote, and croquette of Montgomery's Cheddar with English cauliflower and Jersey Royals.
