Glasgow's original curry house opened in 1954 as the Taj Mahal, before changing its name (a reference to The Palace of Mirrors in Lahore) and undergoing a serious refit during the 1990s. It now boasts a stylish glass frontage and a mezzanine area for private functions and is still regarded as the blueprint for most other Indians in the city – which says a lot about its enduring qualities.
The menu is of epic proportions with a bewildering choice of starters and tandooris, lots of balti-style specialities and curries from all corners of the Sub-continent.
