Set up some years ago as the cut-price alternative to the nearby Seafood Restaurant, this crowd-puller is now a senior member of the Rick Stein dynasty. It's a bright and breezy place located in a white-painted hotel just up the hill from the harbour: vibrant local artwork decorates the walls, and there's an airy courtyard for al fresco meals when the sun shines on Padstow.
No-nonsense bistro cooking is the kitchen's business and locally landed fish is always a good bet on the brief, daily-changing menu.
