The Stone Trough Inn Review
Built on the site of a medieval cottage, this rambling country inn now comprises a complex of red-roofed buildings in a superb position overlooking historic Kirkham Abbey and the rushing River Derwent.
Flagstone floors, log fires and walls covered with bric-a-brac create just the right traditional mood in the bar, where visitors are treated to big-hearted dishes such as fishcakes with lemon butter sauce, braised oxtail, syrup sponge pudding and blackboard specials like haunch of venison on Stilton polenta with stewed raisin and orange jus.
