Nigel and Carol Ramsbottom run this village pub as a double act: he cooks while she works behind the bar and runs the show out front. The Swan dates from the fourteenth century and – like most of its near neighbours – it's crowned with a thatched roof.
Inside it still manages to thrive as a local watering hole, with drinkers popping in from time to time, but new light wood fittings and bamboo suggest something more is going on.
