Nestling in the foothills of the Snowdonia National Park, Sychnant Pass House was built in 1890 and is now run as a country hotel with a personal touch, thanks to owners Bre and Graham Carrington-Sykes. It's a beguiling place, noted for its traditional comforts, distinctive style and good facilities - including a swish swimming pool for guests to enjoy.

The kitchen works to an accessible British-biased repertoire, buys wisely and changes its fixed-priced dinner menus each day.
