This 250-year-old listed building started life as a farrier's (hence the equine name), and the old stables can still be seen in the pub courtyard. Ian Davison and Jennie Ison made their names at the nearby Nag's Head Inn, Castle Donington and since arriving in 2005 have completely revitalised the place.
Inside it is now a mix of gentrified elegance and contemporary style, with imposing fireplaces, exposed brick and tile floors and varnished antique tables blending happily with seagrass matting an all sorts of eclectic collectables.
