Squeezed between rock and highway overlooking the River Conwy, this 400-year-old coaching inn is an admirable stopover at the gateway to Snowdonia National Park. Window boxes and greenery brighten up the frontage in summer, and the low-ceilinged interior is heartwarmingly romantic. There are nooks and crannies everywhere, four-poster rooms for those who want to stay over and a seductive honeymoon suite, too.
