Dramatically housed in the cellars below what was a Victorian brewery and workhouse, the Vaults is a lively new addition to Birmingham's fashionably revitalised Jewellery Quarter. The subterranean space is an eye-catching mix of exposed brick arches and walls hung with artworks, bespoke furniture, autumnal colours and polished wood floors that mixes uptown brasserie with the debonair cosiness of a club lounge complete with private booths.
Sean Kyle was chef to the England under-21 football team and did time at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons - as well as Bank Birmingham - before being head-hunted for the top job here.
