The White Lion Hotel, Pepperpot Brasserie Review

Civil War connections and centuries of history lie behind this venerable coaching inn, which dates back to 1510 and still has its quota or ancient timbers, plaster walls and other original features. Henry Fielding wrote parts of 'Tom Jones' here, and the hotel has seen countless famous faces from stage and screen over the years.

Meals are served in the oak-beamed Pepperpot Brasserie (which takes its title from an old nickname for the local church), although there's nothing quaint about the food on offer.
