African tribal artefacts and other ethnic memorabilia add a touch of exoticism to this open-plan roadside pub/restaurant four miles south of Norwich. This Wildebeest is a thoroughly modern animal, with its elegant style, polished floors, blazing fire and raft of contemporary brasserie-style dishes.
The regularly changing menu might kick off with char-grilled smoked salmon, guacamole, salsa and coriander or pan-fried squid with tomato and caper salad, before pot-roast duck breast with lardons and redcurrant jus, sea bass with saffron risotto, cockles and brown shrimps or grilled ribeye steak with a Gruyère crust and 'house' chips.
