Handily placed for Turnberry, this family-run hotel in the old fishing hamlet of Maidens may look rather dated from the outside, but it's a popular, buzzy place adjacent to the harbour and the sea. Window tables with views are popular in the ground-floor restaurant, which keeps the customers satisfied with its seafood-based menu.
Some of the best fish in the area is landed at Girvan harbour, and the kitchen puts it to good use for a wide-ranging menu bolstered lots of daily specials reflecting the day's catch.
