Hugh and Brian Thomas have spent a lot of time and energy maintaining The Withies Inn, a prosperous sixteenth-century pub in the tiny hamlet of Compton in the Surrey Hills. In particular they have made the gardens into something quite special, with flower borders ablaze with colour, weeping willows providing shade and tables in the shade of old apples trees.
